Hello & Welcome

Another round of great releases this week. There’s a new Inventory tool that will help you quickly arrange your products for viewing. Check it out in Tips & New Stuff.

Also, something many of you have been looking forward to:

Notifications and Alerts.

Those will now be available, so read more on how and when.

And also in Tips & New Stuff this week, we’re now automatically adding Search Rank for your keywords. These three items all kind of came together at once, so as you can see the Tips & New Stuff section is extra juicy this week.

But we haven’t forgotten the rest. In Sellers’ Paradise we’ve got more tips on SEO, and in The World of Amazon get info on the latest state to join the Amazon tax parade.

Be sure to check out the new tools, and have a great week!

TIPS & NEW STUFF

New MBS Notifications

The first round of MBS Notifications are here. For now you’ll be able to decide when/if you want to receive Alerts and/or Sales and Profits notifications, and select which information to include.

Notifications will go into effect this Sunday, and you’ll receive your first Weekly report then.

Within the report will be a link taking you to the MBS page where you can set your preferences. The Notifications menu item will also be enabled at this time, and you’ll find it under Settings > Notifications.

See what you think of this weekly report and decide if you want to adjust it, stop receiving it, or get reports at a different frequency.

With the Notifications engine now built, we’ll be adding to this with many more features and customization options. Stay tuned!

Search Rank for Keywords now Automatically Updated

You’ll now see a Search Rank number next to every keyword in your MBS:

These are added automatically by the system, and show where that keyword ranks in Amazon searches.

Note: this is not the number of times that keyword was searched (search volume), but, rather, where it ranks among all keywords tracked by Amazon.

Entries with search rankings above 1 million are marked with a “1M+”.

You can sort by these rankings, and use them to get an idea of keyword popularity, and which keywords could potentially be your highest yield.

It can also give you a clue as to keywords that are not perhaps as popular, but might be keywords you could go for and dominate. Amazon is a huge playing field, and sometimes even staking a small corner can mean big results.

New Inventory Tool

We’ve made it easier to Show and Hide products in your Inventory.

You’ll notice under Settings > SKUs you now have an Inventory Visible column:

Use that to quickly and easily decided which items you want visible in your inventory list.

Check out the new features released this week, and know that we’re well underway on the next round.

SELLERS’ PARADISE

Continuing with our SEO theme this week, we have more sage advice from one of the industry’s leading SEO experts.

As we’ve mentioned, ManageByStats is about to roll out some big improvements to our own website SEO, and we’ve been applying some of these strategies ourselves.

What makes SEO challenging isn’t the formula, or the time, or the patience. It has more to do with how you beat people who have more money to spend because, in theory, they can do more of everything, which should cause them to outrank you.

But you know what? SEO is the one channel where you can beat big companies even if you can’t outspend them …

How to Outrank Big Companies When You Have No SEO Budget

THE WORLD OF AMAZON

Another one bites the dust. Or, if you’re looking at it on the positive side (which we believe it is a positive), another one joins the club. Amazon will begin calculating, collecting, and remitting sales and use tax for all orders shipped to customers in South Carolina as of April 29, 2019.

See Amazon for more on South Carolina and other states where Amazon is now collecting sales tax …

Amazon Marketplace Tax Collection FAQ

And of course MBS will correctly reflect this data in stats and profit/expense calculations, as well as showing the MFT (Marketplace Facilitator Tax) payments and sales tax numbers in the GeoAnalyze tool.

HUMOR

This week some classics from comedian Steven Wright:

I think it’s wrong that only one company makes the game Monopoly.

Whenever I think of the past, it brings back so many memories.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman. “Where’s the self-help section?” She said if she told me it would defeat the purpose.

Why do we park in the driveway and drive on the parkway?

I bought one of those CDs to teach you Spanish in your sleep. During the night, the CD skipped. Now I can only stutter in Spanish.

I went down the street to the 24-hour grocery. When I got there, the guy was locking the front door. I said, “Hey, the sign says you’re open 24 hours.” He said, “Yes, but not in a row.”

Everywhere is walking distance, if you have the time.

If at first you don’t succeed, then skydiving definitely isn’t for you.

A lot of people are afraid of heights. I’m afraid of widths.
