“Information for the informed Amazon seller”

ManageByStats This Week covers a selection of industry and Amazon news, along with updates, tips and tricks for ManageByStats.

FIRST WORD

Hello, and welcome to Issue 1813! This was the week we released the much-anticipated Facebook Synchronization tool; check out the In The News and What Users Are Asking sections for more on that.

There’s a new filter option in SellerMail. Learn about it under Tips & Tricks. And find some more helpful Marketing info under General Interest.

Stan Lee of Marvel fame used to wish his readers success by signing off with “Excelsior!” In his words it meant “onward and upward to greater glory”. And so, in the spirit of that sentiment we say to you:

Excelsior!

TIPS & TRICKS

A few issues ago we outlined a particular filter in SellerMail, having to do with “One Email Per”. Since then we’ve made a few changes, including updates to terminology. That filter is now called, more correctly, “Limit to”, and we thought we’d take a moment here to go over the latest How-To.

You can find Limit to in the filter options when editing a SellerMail Rule. (The following How-To info is also in the User Guide and Knowledge Base in your ManageByStats.)

__

LIMIT TO:  this is a powerful way of expanding or limiting how many emails are sent in SellerMail. To use it, you need to understand these definitions:

Order: This is an Amazon Order. It has a unique Order Number. Each order can contain multiple

SKUs: (products), and each SKU can have multiple Items.

Items: (if quantity for a SKU is more than 1, then there are multiple items for that SKU).

Shipments: Each order can have multiple shipments, as items in the order may be sent from different warehouses on different days.

Trigger: A Trigger is one of these events: Purchased, Shipped, Out-for-Delivery, Delivered or Refunded.  Each of these events can trigger an email rule, which is why we call them Triggers.

So, we allow you to limit emails in the following ways:

One Email per SKU per Shipment: This is the default, to send this email for each SKU (not each item) in each shipment.

One Email per Order: Use this to send this email only once per order, instead of one email per SKU per shipment.

One Email per Shipment: Use this to send only one email per shipment. The first SKU in the shipment will have an email sent, but the remaining SKUs in the shipment will not.

One Email per Item: This will send this email for every item in the order, such as a serial number or activation code for each item.

One Email per Order per Trigger: Use this to send this message ONLY if no earlier message has been sent with the same Order Number and Trigger. If an earlier email was sent for this Order based on the same trigger event, this rule will not send another email.

WHAT USERS ARE ASKING

How does the new Facebook synchronization work?

Good question! It’s brand new, so there’s a small learning curve. Fortunately the operation of the new Facebook Sync is relatively simple and very straightforward. You’re following steps to connect your Facebook account to ManageByStats so you can automatically create Facebook custom audiences and upload customers daily, so that your custom audiences are continually growing, and continually targeting your new customers.

We just released a video for how to do this, and it’s on the Facebook Sync Knowledge Base page …

GENERAL INTEREST

Continuing our Marketing theme, this issue let’s talk about major marketing types.

Running a business has never been easy, and while the modern age of technology and the all-powerful internet has made it a bit easier, it’s also made it a whole lot more confusing as well. The days when you advertised your business on radio, TV, fliers that you put on people’s cars, and plain old word of mouth are long gone …

HUMOR

Sitting by the window of her convent, Sister Judy opened a letter from home one evening. Inside the letter was a $100 bill from her parents. Sister Judy smiled at the gesture.

As she read the letter by the window, she noticed a shabbily dressed stranger leaning against the lamp post below. Quickly she wrote, “Don’t despair. – Sister Judy” on a piece of paper, then wrapped the $100 bill in it, got the man’s attention and tossed it out the window to him.

The stranger picked it up, and with a puzzled expression and a tip of his hat, went off down the street.

The next day, Sister Judy was told that a man was at the door, asking for her. She went down and found the stranger waiting. Without a word, he handed her a huge wad of $100 bills.

“What’s this?” she asked.

“That’s your share, Sister,” he replied. “Don’t Despair paid 80-to-1.”
