ManageByStats This Week – Issue 1814

“Information for the informed Amazon seller”

ManageByStats This Week covers a selection of industry and Amazon news, along with updates, tips and tricks for ManageByStats.

FIRST WORD

This week a great new addition that will help with your use and understanding of your ManageByStats. See the sections In The News and Tips & Tricks for more. We’ve also got some more good SellerMail guidance, under What Users Are Asking, and important news from Amazon under The World Of Amazon.

Let’s get going with Issue 1814.

MANAGEBYSTATS IN THE NEWS

In the interest of more comprehensive training and education, we’ve rolled out our next tier of Help tools; a walk-through guide for main menu items in your ManageByStats …

New Walk-Through Guide Added To ManageByStats Amazon Seller Software

TIPS & TRICKS

As you saw in the news, this week we rolled out a new Guide that sits directly in your ManageByStats. The button for the new Guide is near Help:

Clicking Guide brings up further options, if available, and selecting an option will bring up a step-through sequence that overlays your MBS screen. The sequence of dialog boxes point out key features of the selected tool or section.

The idea behind the Guide is to offer an initial, easy-to-access option that steps you through the interface in real time, allowing you to see key points of interaction directly in your instance of ManageByStats. Consider it first-tier help, and from there you can advance to the Help documentation, knowledge base articles and videos for more instruction.

More walk-through guides are coming. Where you see the camera Guide icon, click to learn more about your MBS.

WHAT USERS ARE ASKING

Do I need to run the MBS Chrome Plugin in order to use the Feedback Status filter in SellerMail?

In your SellerMail you have many filter options when creating rules. Feedback is one option, and there are actually two ways it’s processed.

Negative Feedback (a rating of 1, 2 or 3) is provided to us by Amazon automatically, using the connection we’ve already established.

Positive Feedback (a rating of 4 or 5) is only obtained by running the MBS Chrome Plugin. (See your Transactions > Feedback menu item for more.)

Therefore, in order to set the Feedback Status filter to respond to Negative feedback you do not need to run the MBS Chrome Plugin to get the latest Feedback. To set the filter to respond to Positive feedback you do need to run the Plugin.

That said, we recommend you use the Plugin regularly to update all Feedback in your MBS.  It’s the best policy.

WHAT USERS ARE SAYING

“ManageByStats is great! We love it because it connects to Amazon directly and puts all the important data we need into one easy-to-use interface. All the data that we need to make important decisions are right there for us to look at. No need to log into Amazon to generate reports that are impossible to understand. Thanks!”

THE WORLD OF AMAZON

Pennsylvania has been added to the list of states where Amazon will collect sales tax automatically. Washington was the first, back at the beginning of the year, and now Pennsylvania is the second. It’s likely more will soon be added.

Changes to Pennsylvania state legislation will require online marketplaces, like Amazon, to collect and remit sales tax on behalf of their third-party sellers. Beginning on April 1, 2018, Amazon will automatically calculate, collect, and remit sales tax on third-party seller sales shipped to Pennsylvania State. As noted, Pennsylvania is the second state, behind Washington, to enact this type of legislation. Sellers don’t need to update their tax collection settings or account information.

Here’s a link for info on Amazon’s Marketplace Tax Collection practices. Note you’ll need to be in logged into your Seller Central account to use the link …

GENERAL INTEREST

We’ve talked about Influencer marketing before, about the value of getting yourself connected with industry leaders whom others look to for advice and recommendations.  But what about becoming an Influencer yourself?

Check out the brief discussion of this very concept and some key ways to go about it. Pay particular note to the concept of offering more than your customers bargain for. This is an extremely valuable, and often ignored, philosophy of business that we ourselves have advocated often in the past …

HUMOR

I recently had to choose a new primary care doctor.

After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, she said I was doing fairly well for my age. (I’m almost seventy.)

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn’t resist asking, “Do you think I’ll live to be 85?”

She asked, “Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer, wine or hard liquor?”

“Oh, no,” I replied. “I’m not doing drugs, either!”

Then she asked, “Do you red meat; rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs, for example?”

I said, “No.”

“Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, boating, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?”

“Nope.”

She asked, “Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?”

“No,” I said, thinking this was probably going well.

Until she looked at me and said, “Then why the heck do you even care?”
